The Trustees fix buildings. The Finance Committee fixes budgets. The Staff-Pastor Relations Committee fixes…people? In a way, this is true. When they help strengthen the pastor, they strengthen the whole church.
Church committees should be blessing to the church, but too often they bring division and power struggles. Why is that? I have a theory…and some people aren’t going to like it.
What do you want your church to be in the future? The same as it is today is not an option. The same as it was 30 years ago is not an option either. We’re going to have to make difficult choices on what to keep and what to let go if we want a bright future.
