At a recent Town Hall, I tried to explain the unfunded pension liability that churches would owe if they leave the denomination. I didn’t do great so I’m going to try an analogy to explain it. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Since the announcement that the Global Methodist denomination, I’ve had a number of pastors reach out to me and ask what this means for their church. Usually these are pastors of churches leaning towards leaving the UMC. Here’s what I’ve been sharing with them. The video gives some advice on what your church leadership can be doing now.

Have you ever heard of 4DX (Four Disciplines of Execution)? This was new to me. The Franklin Covey group puts it out (think 7 Habits of Highly Effective People). Just as I was learning about 4DX, I also started my New Year’s Resolution of losing some weight. When I accidentally used 4DX to lose weight, I became a believer.

In recent months, I’ve been reminded of the important relationship between Management and Leadership. These are God-given gifts and callings that are both necessary for a church to fulfill their purpose. In many churches, management is done by committee through the trustees, finance committee, and staff-pastor relations committee. This post includes links to video resources and trainings to help your committees start 2022 off right.
