For those United Methodist churches that have Scouts, there has been a recent shift in the plan to move forward. This is discussed in the video, but basically here is the agreement between the denomination and the Boy Scouts of America: If churches will extend their current charter agreement through March 31, 2022, a new UM-friendly charter will be available which should address concerns about liability and who is responsible for what.

Jeff,
When local churches ask about rechartering, is this the most current advice you have receivedâthat they just extend the current charter until 3/31/22?
If so, are you aware of any template of an agreement to that effect? I was thinking there was one but am not seeing it in my email or the umcbsa.org website which apparently is not kept up to date.
This question came up from several churches in the zoom charge conferences last night and I want to get the current advice to them. If there is a document, I want to provide it also.
Thanks,
Nancy

This is the last I’ve heard. There should be a United Methodist friendly version of the charter coming out in early 2022 for churches that want to continue chartering a troop.
