I almost always either pay people via ACH using QuickBooks Online’s Bill Pay. It’s the cheapest, quickest, safest way to pay folks. On occasion, I’ll have Bill Pay cut a check which costs more, but at least I don’t have to worry about running to the Post Office.
The other day, I used Bill Pay to cut a check. When the vendor received the check, they discovered that they had billed me too much. They agreed to shred the check, and I agreed to cut them a new check for the correct amount. All was good…except with Bill Pay the money for both checks was withdrawn from my bank account. Now what?
In the video, I show you exactly how I got my refund from QuickBooks Online. There doesn’t seem to be any shortcut or automatic way for uncleared checks to be returned. This is somewhat concerning. I’m debating if I should just cut my own checks if I can’t pay someone via ACH. That way I can just write off the check instead of having to request a refund.
